Bought a program at the $ store that comes on a usb stick that the pc sees as a cdrom so you can't erase/program.
I had to bust it open to see the guts, the interface chip is under epoxy and a 8pin chip I thought was spi flash but isn't.It must be 8meg proprietary otp.
Normally the vid_2013&pid_0917 and the pc sees it as a cd,but when you remove the chip the pc sees it as mass storage 4meg with a new vid_2136&pid_8000
You can't format because there is nothing there to format.
The flip side has a blank pads spot for possibly a spi flash chip, but again windows wouldn't format it.
I thought it might make a good poor man's spi programmer if I could find the correct program to get in,like some diag formatters for certain brands of usb sticks gone bad.
A lead to a chinese site turned out to be a deadend.
