Try CCleaner, (free version) it will straighten out your registry.

    Code:

Go into device manager and scroll down to Usb root hubs. go into power management on each root hub and turn the device power off. then turn it back on. Sometimes that will reset the USB hub. If your usb is showing up in device manager, make sure the drivers are working properly.

If you think it is registry issue, try Registry Mechanic. There is usually a good cracked version on thepiratebay. I have used it for years . CC Cleaner is another one, and that one is free. There is also a good registry fixer in Advanced Uninstaller Pro. There usually is a good cracked version on the piratebay too. Make sure you make a backup regedit file before you make the changes. Sometimes the cleaners can cause more problems than the ones you already have.

Back up your data as it exists right now. Then do a system restore to a time before it screwed up.
