Default Jynxbox Ultra HD V6 front panel red light only! Won't reboot

Gave this box to my Uncle’s Uncle some time ago but now it won’t reboot.

I looked it over and have been reading about some solutions for it but no joy (so far)

He had it off for a week, upon returning, it fired up normally however wouldn’t connect to anything so, he assumed the server was down and shut it off. Now only the red light comes on and the Optical port light is flashing when viewed with the top off and from the front of the box.

So, perhaps it’s not BRICKED! (Yet lol)

    No bulged caps.

Pulled JB200, but same red light, installed a new JB200, same results.

No voltage meter available here, (I’ll have to bring one next time)

It’s had a cooling fan running for years but I guess it could be the U7 chip or the turbo module. Not quite sure where on the board the turbo module is

Only ever used the factory loaded file.

What am I forgetting to mention? Thanks in advance guys!

    Update
Visited D-Unk (Uncles uncle) Yes he’s really, really OLD! And this is the only thing he does!

With my meter in hand, it is showing 12 volts from the PSU.

The inline 8 pin connector is alive too, showing 1.70vdc to 5.07vdc. It’s the one going to the front display but all pins have voltage.

Status however is still the same, one red light on display, flashing light in the optical port.

Which way to go from here… Anyone? Try the Allchunk first then the U7 chip??

    What are your thoughts?
    Thanks so much.

Why have you not tried writing the factory software.

Thank you Mr Hanky. I will try that this weekend.

First, I’ve been checking my thumb drives to see if I still had a copy of the original factory sw. And I just found (here in the file section) a version 8 that sounds like it may be better anyway.

Second, I was hoping that it could be resolved with a simple re-write or worst case, a chip solder job. I simply feared the worst! I can’t afford to buy him a new box right now, (especially with the future of iks in question) and it may kill him without it! Lol

I’ll test it and then update.

    Thanks for your advice!

    Nothing worked!

I tried 2 loaders on 2 different pc’s, double checked the RS232 cable for continuity.

The loader would NOT connect to the box. Red light still on, no change.

Double checked the COM port settings, hell I tried them all!

So the red lights on and nobody’s home!

What should I try next? Anyone??

Read this, you need new U7 Chip to solve your probleme...You can find it on E-Bay.
U7 Chip 1.jpgU7 Flash Chip for Jynxbox Ultra HD V30 Satellite Receivers2.jpg

One (1) Replacemen factory Programmed U7 Chip for any Jynxbox Ultra HD V2 Thru V30 Satellite Receivers.
The U7 chip will be programmed with the latest version released from the manufacturer of the Jynxbox or the version which the buyer wants

If you bricked your unit by loading a bad bin image this replacement flash will restore it back to a working state.

Typical symptoms of a bad bin or corrupt U7 chip are the front panel Blue & Red lights locked on with no other response (ie: no power-on, No video, Boot loop, problem Stuck in boot mode, Freezes during boot up or no serial flash loading).
This chip is loaded with the Original Jynxbox North American Factory Version firmware.

IMPORTANT: This chip will require surface-mount device soldering and unsoldering!!!
WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES YOU CAUSE TO YOUR
RECEIVER BOX OR CIRCUIT BOARD by improper installation!!!
100% U7 CHIP verification - Before and after reprogramming process

Did you use a straight through RS232 or did you use a cross over RS232? Jbox V1,V2,V3 all use a straight through cable.

    Thanks T95KPRO!

My gut feel was thinking this all along and I actually did a quick check on fleabay before posting my question here.
    I found V20 & V21 only chips.
Just now found a V8. I’ll ask you (if you'd like to reply) and the seller if it’s fine for a V6 box, then likely make this repair.

No bin ever loaded, it musta just got tired.

Spent hours researching other boxes to replace it with but none of them cost only $14 bucks! Lol

    Thanks diode!

Actually I tried 3 cables, 2 straight thru’s with the adapter on the end and I brought 1 crossover (which doesn’t need the adapter) which I did try, just for my inner DEMON to see it smoke! (I was very frustrated)
But no smoke! NO change at all!

Still, red light on but no hookers home!

Like you want, this chip work with all Version of Jynxbox. Or buy a other receiver instead. 14$ can solve your problem.
