these string confetti can were recalled back in Feb 1990...

(String Confetti Aerosol Cans Are Recalled as Fire Hazards)
The Government has announced the recall of three million cans of an aerosol string confetti because the propellant used in the product may be highly flammable.
The product, ''Extra Thick Super String,'' often used at children's birthday parties and other celebrations, is hazardous if sprayed near an open flame, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

About three million cans of the string were sold nationwide from December 1988 until October 1989, when the New Jersey manufacturer, E. Davis Inc., developed a new inflammable propellant formula, the agency said.

Consumers should discard any pre-October cans and mail the each orange, blue, pink or green plastic can cap to the company for two replacements with the reformulated items. The address is P.O. Box 8060, Piscataway, N.J. 08854-8060.
