Things seam to be complicated. May be not. May be I have not read the right sections. I been reading as you had mentioned. But yet not sure about many things. Anyways I think I will have to do more reading. May be you could clear some things for me? May be my brain is not savi as it use to be

-By the looks of it the MAG 254 will be a easy box to set up for a new guy like me and it's better. Would this be accurate?
-Do I have to get a server subscription? Is this the term for "Internet Provider"? If so I have internet service at home.
-I am confused about the IPTV OK2? is this just a channel list or something ells?
-my need is, cartoons/movies for the kids, and watch some hockey and football for me.

I'm sure these questions have come up before, I just didn't see it.

the mag 254 would not be the best imo
The easiest box to set up would be a box that has its own iptv software such as buzz dreamlink etc Buzz is best imo
you can also run software on an android box
The server subscripion is your iptv server and there are many such as ok2 wickediptv etc
your internet provider is your service at home

the buzz xpl3000 is a good unit
