Required Internet Speed For IPTV
Looking to get into IPTV, however I live in a rural area that is only serviced by DSL with a 5 MBPS download speed (yea pathetic I know). From what I've read it looks like servers require much faster speeds.
As a reference, I can run Netflix no problem and useage won't be an issue as I have unlimited GB.
Is it doable or am I SOL? Would like to know before I invest in hardware. Thanks.

I have heard of people running iptv with 4-5 MB down only thing you can do is try

sometimes it depends on channels if they are HD or SD. HD requires more speed to avoid freezing.

If you can run Netflix you should have no problem running IPTV.

Depends on many factors ... server locations... distance to servers... which = ping results. Quality offered by such servers 480p-1080p streams. etc etc etc etc.. to many factors to give you an accurate answer. 5mbps is fairly low and even if you can stream Netflix 720p or wtv doesn't guarantee an amazing connection to a IPTV server. my best solution for you is to do trials of various IPTV servers and see which one works best for you.. possibly one that offers lower quality feeds. secondly get an apk that supports stream buffering is a must in your case... Dreamlink boxes on their main applications support this option buzztv is about to introduce it to their stand alone apk. in the meantime get yourself perfect player and change that buffer option to 4 and run the encoding in HW mode.Thirdly if you share this connection... your not going to be impressed to say the least.... (buffering )stick with IKS than and use Kodi or wtv for movies/ tv shows until your local speed is increased. Good luck.

Running Netflix and iptv are 2 different things.

I'm in the same boat.The important thing is that your connection is actually 5mbps and not upto. I run iptv on 6mbps many others do also.The trick is,is to stay with a sd server.I can run iptv and another connection watching youtube.But youtube also has to be turned down to one of the lowest settings.I can actually watch iptv on 2 boxes.But anything else aside from just mild browsing will make the iptv freeze.

If you don't want to invest in hardware before you know if it works, you could download a free app like STB on one of your devices and try a trial or buy a month's worth of iptv.

I also live in rural area and was only getting 3mbps with bell. I had to move to another service like xplornet with fast speeds to get my iptv to run well. Mind you some days on the 3, I could run some SD channels providing no one else was using the internet. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I consistently get 5 Mbps download, so I'll wait for Black Friday and see if there's any deals on a Buzz XPL3000 and then do some free trials. If it doesn't work out it will be one less Christmas present to buy.

Using WOWTV or Radiosity on android uses least amount internet from my testing but the picture is lesser quality on many channels.. I have seen them working well on 3 mbps.
