I'm 99% sure about this but don't quote me but if it's like express you can't use 2 buzz boxes as the serial of the buzz also gets tied to the credit...not just the mac.

If you have 2 boxes with stbemu and delete the serials in the profile it works.

If you use a box with stbemu and a buzz together it won't work either based on my testing.

But STB Emu allows you to also change the serial if you want.

Late last year, I had a similar issue, and then changing the serial on STB Emu to match the first box fixed the issue. I think I had changed DeviceID also. And it was the DeviceID which was more of the issue if I remember correctly. So basicially allow the box which is not flexible on some of these changes to be married to the sub first, and then on STB Emu make the changes to match.

I'd be curious if you use STB Emu with blank deviceID as first device, would it then allow any other unit to connect. All depends how the marriage process is done. On STB Emu you have the option "Send device ID if portals requests it. Sends empty string if not enabled.".

I'm not sure, but I think late last year on ok2, there were some cases where it was affected. Maybe they were experimenting or something. I did encounter a few issues, where I had to make changes.
However, right now, I can confirm that on OK3 at least, it is just the MAC that it is tied to. I have my buzz box on main tv, and I have my MiiBox3 and a BeeLink GT1 setup in other rooms (bedroom and basement). Obviously only 1 at a time, but it avoids having to physically move a box all the time.

The OP said they were going to use two Buzz boxes - so there shouldn't be a problem if they use StbEmu.
It should work on any service. Where I have had problems on some services is using the true MAC on one box and then trying to spoof that same MAC on a different box - I assume it is because they are grabbing more than the MAC address from the box when they connect. You can see on some panels (like IPTV Express) all the details of the connecting box - such as box model, MAC, Serial number and also firmware they are using - so it is possible that a service could block you if everything does not match.

If you use StbEmu and make up a fake MAC and use it on box #1 and then fake the Serial Number, firmware, etc. on it - and then use the exact same info on the second, third, fourth, .......etc box then I can't see how the service could differentiate between the boxes that are trying to connect.

Yeah, I used ok2 on STB Emulator on different device and also used buzz and it worked.

So in the end it all depends on which service you have.

I am fairly certain that the ipguys only recently moved over to the more secure method with there new server upgrades.

Ahh well its not like it cost a lot.

I don't use ipguys so I can't say but I've always been able to use my unit and STB on different units from the get-go with ok2. I even use it on my mobile device..

I used two buzz boxes and stb emu with same service. I just assigned them all the same mac i.d and no problems. a couple of months ago one of the buzz boxes and stb emu was blocked because I ran two at the same time by mistake. After a couple of weeks, the block went away and able to use all boxes off of one mac. As long as they are not running at the same time.
