Comcast goes like with YouTube 4K as part of Xfinity X1

18 December 2018

US cable giant Comcast has launched YouTube 4K on its Xfinity X1 pay-TV service, giving US viewers access to YouTube’s online video collection alongside existing live, on demand, DVR and other web programming.

The pay-TV provider has provided access to YouTube since last year, but this announcement widens its portfolio.

Comcast X1 subscribers with a compatible XG1v4 or Xi6 TV Box and a compatible 4K TV will be able to access the content via the Xfinity menu or the “4K videos on YouTube” voice command.

The news comes on the heels of Comcast going live with Amazon Prime Video on 5 Dec.

“We are thrilled to give X1 customers access to Amazon Prime Video just in time for the holidays,” said Matt Strauss, executive vice president of Xfinity Services at Comcast Cable. “Prime Video is a fantastic extension of the programming choices available to our customers. By integrating hundreds of thousands of live and on demand choices from the best networks, studios and streaming services, our customers can instantly search, control and watch all of their entertainment in one place with their voice.”
