Default PVR causes video to freeze

For some reason on my dreamlink T5 everytime I try to record with the PVR the picture freezes and I get Scramble Channel. I have tried to reboot then it goes back to normal.

Also I have tried Factory Reset plus loading Factory bin...Factory Reset again...loading newest bin for dreamlink T5. This does not make any improvement in this.

Is there something else I should do to allow PVR to record again without freezing the video?

Could it possibly be a internet glitch/problem ?

I don't think so because there is no glitch or internet issue otherwise strong signal and no freezing scrambled otherwise until I use the PVR.

The other Dreamlink T1 HD has no issues with the PVR.

I am using a portable usb external drive right now non powered the other one that plugged in went on me, and hard to find other self powered external usb drives.

OK, then your problem may be a power issue being the Non-powered external drive, The T5 having problems keeping up (power)
and the size of the drive (Fat32=Slow)

You could use something like this: hxxps://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Aluminum-Enclosure-Cooling-EC-UEIS7/dp/B001PHLMAE/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=powered+hard+drive+enclosure& qid=1571624056&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_fo ur_browse-bin%3A6022609011%2Cp_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A5492129011&rnid=2886899011&s=pc&sr=1-13

    to power your Non-powered drive.

Yes that could be it totally different than the power issues keeping up on the DL T1.

This is what I found on Amazon I will have to use for the T5.....Fantom 1 TB 7200 RPM USB 3.0/2.0 External Hard Drive with 3-Year Warranty (GF3B1000UP)

It is self powered with connection to usb and power cord. Thanks for your help.

Try not to get something to Large, the T5 may have problems recognizing it, plus the (Fat32 Format restriction, etc.)

I use 500gb ssds' on our t5s.Format is using disk manager with windblows 7 to the fat32 file system.Works like a charm.
The ssds' use only a fraction of the power that hdds' use.

The fat32 file system, has a hard time with file sizes above 4gb, so Video movies etc. can be larger than that.

I am going to get 2 of the above self powered 1 tb another for the dl v.1 hd box. The portable external hd seems to want to format everytime I edit the PVR time. Also besides formatting the new external usb drives to fat32 is it also important to convert from primary to logical drive. Would that be important to change or leave it as primary? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Don't think it matters (primary, logical) just plug into PC/Lap. and format to Fat32
You may even be able to do it (Format) with the T5, ?? I Don't use a T5 so not sure on it.

Downloading large file sizes is not the issue, it comes into Play when working with that file (converting, splitting, etc.)
with the newer O.S. I believe. Individual files on a FAT32 drive can't be over 4 GB in size—that's the maximum. A FAT32 partition must also be less than 8 TB, which admittedly is less of a limitation unless you're using super-high-capacity drives.Mar 30, 2018

I may start using those too, but the issue are the connectors 3.0 USB-C.

You would have to use an adapter for the USB Port I would think....USB-C female to standard USB male.

    I could be wrong though.

Anyone else have an answer for this that would work?

    Thanks in advance
