Default recommend a good indoor OTA antenna

I am moving into a town home, which probably won't allow me to run coaxial cables like I can, owning a house, so to make life easy is there a good indoor OTA antenna out there, or an alternative to coaxial cables, so I can get a decent amount of channels? I am approx. 20kms west of downtown Toronto, near the lake.

I tried 2 indoor versions with poor results.I live in the GTA as well, so our results would be similar. With the amplified rca version, I got the cn tower channels on some days, chch Hamilton very well.Nothing from upstate NY.

yeah I think I had the same one, maybe outdoor is the best way to go. Do you know a good outdoor one that is very small and not an eyesore? maybe I will eventually try running cable or have it only for my rooftop outdoor tv.

A 4 bay like the channel master 4221 or 4224 aimed properly will get you some upstate NY,all the cn tower channles & chch most days.
I use an array of 2 channel master 4228 8 bays with a rotator & I get 30 plus channels, many from NY.

I read this not long ago (news piece is dated 19th May 2019)
It refers to OTA free reception and an application to terminate

I understand service providers have applied for permission to
stop the free service --- Shaw is denying it has done such
a thing ,, But the CBC is sticking to their story

And if Shaw has applied, the others are sure to follow ,,

Follow this link to get to the article, judge for yourself if you
want to spend money on an antenna that might not work past
    the summer

I would do a TVfool report for your location first, this will give you an idea on were to point the antenna, and what type of antenna for what range you would need.

    Code:
    http://tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29
If you post the report link back here (it will not give away your exact address) I can help you further, but without info for the location, and whats available we would be guessing, as all locations are different as to what can be received with what type antenna.

With an indoor or in attic antenna you will be loosing about 1/2 of the available signal strength as to one located out on the roof, more if the roof is metal (no signal at all) or has brick or stucco in the way.

Get a antenna that is made for outside and try it.I have one outside that is small that rotates 360 it cost me about $25.00.It reaches 150 miles away.Inside is a different story.

Sorry Runamok, but no such thing as a 150 mile TV antenna, unless your picking up Tropo scatter or long range DX.(it would be there then not there)

For a TV antenna to work at 150 miles, the TV station transmitters would need to be at 6000 feet, and so would you, plus nothing in the way, like other mountains.

But a direct address TVfool report would help, and not all locations will be the same, unless he is within several blocks or miles of someone that has a setup that works.

I've been installing TV antennas for over 60 years,(well not anymore, they don't let me on roofs, I tend to try and fall off) and found that not all locations are the same, trees, tall buildings and other things affect the signals, I use to have a trailer with a crank up tower on it, we would do a test before install, but that was many years ago.......I wish I still had the trailer.
