    Default Can't get signal back

We use FTA just for AMC 21 for PBS channels:

    Code:
    https://www.lyngsat.com/AMC-21.html
The LNB support rusted through on the dish, and I replaced the dish. Now I can't get a signal back. I think the elevation and azimuth are where they were previously; I pick up a signal; the strength goes to 57%, but I can't get quality. Is this a pointing problem, or some other setting wrong?

It's the quality that you have to watch for signal. With the linear polarity lnb's you have to have the lnb skewed properly. I've also noticed the position of the lnb in the collar makes a difference in the quality.

What type/brand of LNB? Did you use the old one? Or buy a new one?

With only 51 to 57% on the signal you may have a problem with the coax at the LNB.

Go to dishpointer.com, and enter your location, and select AMC-21 as the satellite, once this is done zoom into your location where the dish is mounted as close as you can then click on it, this will give you the pointing info and skew settings for your location, also you will get a line on a map showing where to point the dish.

Also what other settings in the LNB type do you have besides "User"? And did you change any of them? You may need to set this different if you replaced the LNB with a new one.

A photo of the new dish and LNB would help.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I replaced the LNB but it looks just like the old one. I went on the roof with the box and a small TV....signal still only 57%, so the cable was not a factor. Not sure I am pointed at the right sat. Latitude on this dish only seems to go to 50 degrees.

That's a universal lnb, so you'll have to make sure you're using universal lnb in your settings.

It's not the latitude on that adjustment setting but the dish's elevation, you only need the longitude (azimuth) of the satellite and it's elevation at your location, you then set the skew on the LNB and you should be set.

Did you go to dishpointer and get the correct info??

I got it going....it was hell. Not easy sliding around on the roof when you're 73. Thanks for the advice!

I lost the signal again. It was working well on AMC 125W with the PBS channels, and it went out with "no signal". There were no obvious changes in the system or box. My Openbox receiver only permits LNB types, C, User and KU. It was set on User when operational. I replaced the LNB with a new Universal, which was the same as the old one. I went back up on the roof; the signal peaked at 62%, but again no quality. Any ideas?

It could be as simple as a corroded connector.

I was up on the roof again with a short cable between the box and dish. Signal peaked at 62%, but no quality.
