is next N3XT still a thing?

but yes it's a costly solution when compared to other boxes ..also, you can only watch what is being broadcasted..
if stream is 720/1080p .. getting expressive box is not gonna fix picture quality

also, when I started to get into iks world in 2011/2012 I was told "it's late in the game" .. 8 years later, what do you know...$350 for receiver/dish/lnbs etc.. paid itself off multiple times and it works great today as well.. only time I get IPTV is for boxing

I could be wrong, and others sure were wrong when they told me not to spend money in 2012 and if you look at posts on this forum IKS has been dying for last 10 years

but in 2020 to spend money on this... if you are really really bored and got nothing better to do in quarantine

So you are saying that it's not a good idea to spend money on this? I know am very very late to the game, but was wondering if it's still worth the try..

As long as there are satellite services there will be people cracking into them. As per the OPs question, look into acquiring a Skywalker-1. That paired with tvheadend and any off the shelf Android box running Kodi will skate circles around the other boxes available. You have to remember at the end of the day this is just a hobby. If you just want to watch TV get a jynxbox on eBay for $150. If you're a home media enthusiast and like the idea of setting up your own server and customizing your experience I'd look into getting a USB tuner.

Thanks for your response, that's all I wanted to hear. I will look into Skywalker-1 as well.

There isn't even anything good on sat these day but the convenience of being able to watch sports in Jellyfin would make it worth it.
I tried a skywalker in my Enigma2 Octagon SF8008. It just locks up when you scan. It is a driver issue. I tried it on many images (openvix, openatv, openpli, pure2, etc)...no luck. I never got around to see if camd works, because I could not scan the turbo channels.
If you buy a used skywalker, make sure see the thing working. Even when they are fried, they still usually show up in device manager.

Look around & see if you can find an old Linux CaptiveWorks CW4000HD or CW3000HD for cheap. Some of them have a built in genpix skywalker. You see them on kijiji & ebay once in a while. You can set them up thru your PC using winscp & putty. There is a section here with lots of good info.

DSR-6000 works great, hopefully that's what you got. It works because it passes the entire transponder as an MPTS stream, other models like the DSR-6050 tune a single program (channel) off the transponder and transport it as a SPTS, and doesn't include the ECM keys, so they won't work for IKS. Also, I had to write my own software to control the DSR via TVHeadEnd. The other option is to manually tune your channels using the panel buttons on the DSR. So you're in for a project. It took a while to get my setup fully working, but it's great. My dreamlinks have been in the closet for a while. If you have a C-Band dish, you can try your DSR unit on major networks and see if they have active keys. Each DSR unit was typically used in a cable head end and often times hit ebay still authorized. Fox Sports and ESPN boxes are common, but your box could be authorized for anything. They're rarely de-authorized, it'd be more likely that the battery in the unit died and the unit's unique keys are forever lost. Anyway, have fun.
