Marine biologist on first day at work.....
Some years ago, a bright young marine biologist graduated from college and landed a plum job: SeaWorld in Florida. Needless to say, he was excited to start and showed up early on his first day, to find the place in a tizzy.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're here," said his boss. "The dolphins are in heat and we have to calm them down before the busloads of children see them in this state. We can't have a sex show behind those giant glass walls."
"OK, boss, what can I do?" he asked.
"The only thing that calms them down is feeding them baby seagulls. Take this burlap sack and go out to the dunes. Find some gull nests and fill the bag. Bring the baby birds back here. Quick!"
So the guy drives out to the dunes and on the way hears an alert on the car radio. "A lion has escaped from the zoo between SeaWorld and the beach. It's extremely dangerous. Be on the lookout."
He's a bit afraid but wants to do a good job on his first day so proceeds to the dunes. He finds plenty of gulls and fills his bag with the babies and starts back toward his car.
When there, in the path, is a male lion, sleeping soundly. The dunes are too high and steep to go around. His only option is to tiptoe close and jump over the lion. Which he does, successfully, and keeps running.
Just then a big old fat southern sheriff comes out from behind a bush.
"Son, you're under arrest."
"Why?" says the befuddled biologist.
"You, boy, are transporting young gulls across a staid lion for immoral porpoises."
