I know you can sideload apps and even the play store, and I can do it without an issue, but I don't want to be everyone's tech support. Most of my family and friends are not very tech savvy.
I agree that if you do not use IPTV and you are going to use mainstream standard off the shelf apps like netflix, disney+, youtube, then there is probably not a huge advantage to go with a buzz. Firestick may even be a better experience. But if you like to sideload a lot of apps, then you may want to think twice since many apps need "some sort of hack or customer versions" to work on firesticks.
Yes you are paying for one of the slickest and nicest IPTV apps. Which comes only on buzz devices.
And as I believe we all agree, if IPTV is your main player, then it is worth it.
I really like my Buzz receivers but haven't tried any of the new ones yet - but I really like my FireStick 4Ks as well.
I like the specs on the Buzz VID stick compared to the FireStick 4Ks - but one thing most of the reviews don't mention is the Alexa Voice remote on the FireSticks. I use it all the time. You can ask it to play any song you want or ask any question you want much like google. I use it find what channel a game or show is on - example "What channel is the next Formula 1 race on" - and you'll get something like "The Austrian Grand Prix will be on Sunday July 5 at 9:10 AM EST and will be on ESPN2". Its also good for getting all the latest game scores.
FireSticks are not the easiest devices to setup - but after you've done a few it gets easier and pretty simple. I think the biggest hurdle for me is to get your new FireStick updated to the latest firmware - you just have to go to your settings and click on Download update - but it can take hours and sometimes overnight before all the updates get downloaded and installed. You can still download and install other apps in the meantime - so not a big deal even if you have to wait overnight.
First thing you should do with a FireStick is to install "Downloader" app and then use Downloader to install FileLinked app from get.filelinked.com Once you have FileLinked installed you are home free and can pretty much install any app with a couple of clicks from a FileLinked store. I have all of my favourite apps in my FileLinked store and can download and install 7 or more apps on a Firestick in less than 5 minutes.
If you install FileLinked on all your friends devices - it is very easy to show them how to install any app from your FileLinked store - it is just two clicks - one to download and the next click to install.
If you are supporting a bunch of family/friends then try out the new iMPlayer app - you can remotely add or delete any Live TV or VOD/TV Series service on their device. This app gives you remote control and you can send them onscreen messages and restart the app or reboot device. M3U and EPG URLs can be long and hard for anyone to enter on a FireStick or any device that doesn't have a keyboard remote - but with iMPLayer your family/friends won't have to type anything you can do it all from your computer keyboard. You can add as many services as you want to their device and they can pick which one they want to use.
The iMPlayer itself is very nice - you can set up your own categories for Live TV and move channels from one category to another or you can change the name of a channel and sort lists the way you want. You can download two different services when the app opens if you want. The EPG Guide - both Channel List and Full Guide is very nice. If your Live TV service is missing some EPG info or channel logos you can use a service like IPTVEditor to add the missing info and then add your second EPG source in iMPlayer.
Unlike Tivimate - the VOD/TV Series services look great in iMPlayer - you can play trailers in the background while surfing through lists - you can download the movie or play it or add to favorites.
