Default Buzz xr4000 losing wifi when changing channels

Well here is a weird issue and I am pretty confident the issue started after the new upgrade since the issue is on a few boxes that I have tested including on different wifi signals/residences. Fyi: the xpl3000 is working perfectly and issue is on the xr4000 models

When in YouTube, google, aptoide market the wifi signal never drops and I can scan other networks.

Inside the buzztv4 app, the box loses it’s wifi intermittently, I need to exit the app, wait for a few minutes and re-enter the app again. When the wifi is lost, other wifi signals are also not available or visible in the wifi scanning.
I have tried a clear data, clear cache and even reset the box with a toothpick, cleared it altogether.

The Bluetooth comes up with an error message intermittently when it is rebooted, issue is still there after the update even though the release notes mentioned it should have been fixed.

I may try an load the stub emulation and see if the problem is within the tvbuzz 4 app or the wifi itself after the update.
    Hardwire has no issues whatsoever.

Blue tooth was turned off as part of my troubleshooting earlier and it is still off. I will email buzz and see if they can assist, thanks for the feedback.

I will attach a photo of what just happened when I changed channels in the tvbuzz 4 app. The xpl3000 box is still perfect and a xp4000 box that was purchased 7 months is still perfect. The last few boxes that were picked up have the issues.

Once I reboot this box that has the issue, problem is resolved for a few minutes and then reoccurs again. Channels changing it fails quicker.B22D585C-3C2A-4191-A8BF-8D3ADBA5B534 (1).jpg

Last 3 xr4000 boxes that were setup all failed, locking up at different intervals when watching tv or changing channels. That last update definitely did something to the wifi part of the box. As long as I am hardwired the box works perfect. Strange how the older xr4000 boxes are working well on the wifi and they received the same update.
These latest 3 boxes are failing badly. I am wondering if they changed some different chipsets in them and the upgrade didn’t take that into account.
I emailed buzz with the sn of the boxes and I will update the fix. Thanks

Update: after further testing, the wifi is disconnecting and coming up with no internet under the network and internet options when using all apps that are required to be online, this last box, I can’t access more than 2 YouTube videos without the wifi dropping.

All 3 boxes have the same issue but at different intervals. Again the older xr4000 boxes are still working fine including at my residence.

    Really strange.

Did you happen to try a static ip? And also reserve that ip for your Mac ID within your router.

Also, remove the buzztv from near anything that has a big magnet or generates a large emf. Like a speaker, old tv (with vacuum tube).

Another thought. Are you cloning your Mac ID from 4000>3000 and running two units off one sub. If so, you could be getting dropped (disconnection) from the server.

Don’t shoot the messenger, just trying to help. When you find the problem pls share so others can benefit from it.

Static Ip was tried to no avail, as for cloning, no mac was cloned from 1 box to another box, regarding the big magnet issue, I have moved the defective boxes to different locations in the house and wifi drops in the box and locks up pretty fast on 1 of them and around a few minutes on the second box. I am actually using another xr4000 that was purchased a few months back with no issues and had the new update done on it. These current boxes that have issues were just picked up. I even changed some settings within the router and no luck. I will wait for the feedback from the people at buzz and update you all regarding the fix

    Thanks

    1. Are you using a Wifi Mesh network at your location?

    2. Are you able to try using a Wifi Hotspot from your phone on the box to see if the same issue happens?

    3. Are you able to use a different Home Screen setting under Buzz Utilities, like Classic or Media Player 2. To see if the issue still happens?

I am currently not available to test until a later time tonight but yesterday I connected to the wifi signal, turned off the wifi scanning and the box still lost connectivity.
The only way I was able to recognize the wifi signal was toggle the wifi scanning off and on again a number of times or reboot the box.

I do not use a wifi mesh system.

But I tries using my iPhone as a hotspot, to eliminate the in-house wifi and same result, the last box that I tested lost connectivity really fast, the second last box that I tested at least stayed online for a few minutes until it dropped the connection .

I attempted the a couple of different Home Screen options, If I recall correctly , I think there were 4 options to change the Home Screen and I tried only 2 of them. Same result.

The important factor is I am using a xr4000 that was purchased earlier this year with absolutely no issues but these last 3 boxes are all dropping the signal at different times.
All the boxes had the last firmware updated from the OTA.

    Regards

Update: I am 100 percent confident what is dropping the wifi signal on the one box. After turning off all network devices including gaming systems and using just the phone as a hotspot, the video on the box still froze with the spinning circle, heading to the wifi section the connection came up with no internet, turning off the wifi a few times or rebooting the box, the box reconnects to the wifi,

After switching from secondary to default as the player settings, no freeze on the box and wifi signal is solid. I have switched 5 times back to secondary from default and each time the video froze and dropped the signal. My box definitely does not work on the secondary player.

    Thanks

Additional Updates: I have now run the box on the default player settings for the last day and a half.
Default player results were video , channel changes , wifi signal all solid for over an hour but I did have 3 failure results exactly the same as the secondary player settings after over an hour of tv viewing.

As for secondary player, I can’t watch anything for more than a minute without the box losing the connection. That is still a dud. Attempted at least 3 more times.

All these results mentioned above still does define if the problem is the tv buzz 4 app, buzz firmware upgrade or both that was completed a few weeks ago. I have not watched enough YouTube video to confirm if video and wifi fails with that app etc.

All in all there is some bugs that will need to be looked at. I never had any of these issues on any boxes before the upgrades a few weeks ago.

    Thanks

Secondary and Default player very solid when connected with the cat 5 cable directly to the router. On another note I received the Bluetooth keeps stopping message a few times when on wifi. Bluetooth error message does not pop up when hardwired.
Both boxes same issue. There must be something different hardware wise on these new 4000 boxes than the earlier ones that I purchased. Those are still running smooth and flawless like a fine tuned engine.

    Questions:

    1. how far away is the WIFI router from the problem buzz box?

    2. how many devices using the WIFI signal from the router?

    3. what type/brand of WIFI router do you have?

    4. what is the internet connection speed of the router?

and lastly, do you live in an area that has more then one WIFI signal? (apartment, condo what)
