    Question Powerline Adaptors

    Hey all,

I have a 2 single port netgear powerline adapters for 1 sat box. If i wanted to run a second stb in another room, can I purchase 1 addtional powerline adaptor with 2 ethernet ports (use that next to router) and use one of the signles in the other room? Will they all talk to eachother?
To sum up i'd have 1 single port in one room, 1 single port in another and 1 double port next to the router.

Thanks for any help on this!

It depends on the model or type, here is some info on this from netgear.

Yes they will talk to each other. Just make sure you buy the exact same model/brand that you have now. They are designed to be used with multiple devises.

Used them for years. By plugging one into your router gives you access through every power outlet.

Really! Cause i'm having trouble finding a 2 port on amazon (free shipping to my remote location) so, if were to buy another 1 port adapter (now a total of 3) i could still get internet access with only 1 plugged into the router?

Edit: After re reading Terryl's link I think this now clicked in, I hope the adapters connect better than my brain lol

A single pair of PLA's (power line adapters) will get an IP address from your router, they will then forward this address to your equipment your trying to hook to the internet.

You will need a second set (TX RX) of PLA's to get a second internet connection, as what I find is that the dual port PLA is out of stock at most places.

The second set of PLA's will need to use a second LAN port on your router, DO NOT use a power strip to run the PLA's as the power strip may have surge protection and AC filtering in them, a second (if needed) AC wall plug on the same AC line power circuit should be used.

Ok gotchia, so i can't simply add a third wheel because i need a 4th (1 to router and another to the device) but if I had a 4 port PLA at the router this could distribute to 4 PLA's/devices, correct? I will check ebay, your help is greatly appreicated guys!

1 port into router, all your electrical outlets in your home are ready. Just add adapter to another device and plg it in, good to go.
