My dad’s mesh dish has some rips in the mesh. Does that affect the signal?
Not by that much, but was the dish hit by something? If so make sure it's not out of round.Done by measuring top to bottom, side to side and diagonal, the measurements should be almost the same.
You can stitch the rips together with some stainless steel wire*, (get the thin stuff, I'd say around 20 gauge) this will keep it from getting bigger as the wind blows it back and forth.
Look on Amazon for the wire.
*Use stainless steel wire so it wont rust.

Awesome! I'll measure it this weekend. I can get a like new dish fir $50. I'm thinking I should just replace it.
