    Question IKS Receivers and Plex

    Hello,

New to this site, been out of this scene really since a little bit after Nagra 2 went away. After that I had my own private IKS server that I used with my own Charlie Card that I had working with MythTV. Had my card in my Dreambox 500. Worked great for it's time, but went to the Hopper, then DirecTV Now until the prices went crazy and went to Plex using nzbd's and had Locast for Live TV on my Plex server using locast2plex. Now with Locast down for good it seems, deciding where to go from here. I guess I only really care about locals maybe and news stations since my Plex setup downloads everything else automatically. I see IKS is still a thing, seems BEV is the place to use it, has anyone had any luck integrating this into a tuner into Plex? Or am I stuck having to use a DreamBox or FTA tuner and watching TV from that? There is the VBox XTi 4134 which is supported by Plex, does this support IKS or am I better off just using IPTV? Not sure if IPTV services are reliable enough. I still have dish's on my roof sitting unused, would be cool if I could reuse that stuff and integrate it into a more modern setup. Still have my Dreambox 500, but it isn't HD.. Unless I could use it's tuner to stream into Plex va modern software since it supports 8psk.

The 1st thought I had reading your post is whether you even get a Bev signal where you live? They shrunk their signal years ago so it's not received more than a few miles south of the Canadian/U.S. border.

Interesting question..... I’m the same latitude as like southern Connecticut, maybe nyc. I had never had problems receiving BEV before on BEV flashed IRD’s, but that was a number of years ago. Are all of their channels moved to a different almost spot beam and would that be too south? Would I be able to get their demo welcome to BEV channel (101?)? I think I have an old 508 flashed with their firmware still, while it won’t support mp4 or 8psk, might be worth testing if their welcome to BEV channel is still mp2. Otherwise I’d have to get the Dreambox out.

Looks like I can still get them. 81 might require a larger dish, but I should be okay.

Does anyone have any thoughts on my other questions? Would be neat to integrate this into Plex, not sure if anyone has gotten cam emulators to work on other boxes like VBox or if anyone has gotten a Dreambox integrated in as a tuner for Plex.

I strongly suggest you go on the Bev website to see what channels are available. Bear in mind that you will not get any Pay per view movies. There are great Bev service providers on here for Bev Iks and also for Iptv services that include Bev. If you have any specific questions feel free to shoot me a P.M. I do have both Bev Iks and Iptv for my personal use.
