This is similar to the TV we had when I was a kid. Notice that it says HUGE screen

My father must have saved a long time to buy it.

We snicker at that technology today, but it was an AMAZING technology at the time.I remember similar tv's in my childhood, as well as our first "space commander" remote controlled Zenith colour tv in the mid 60's.I thought we had it all!lol.

Yup...and my curiosity got the best of me when I was 10 years old:I took it apart to see how it worked. All that was inside were 4 aluminum rods of various lengths. When you pressed a button, it caused a hammer strike against the bottom of the selected rod.The rod would vibrate a certain frequency that the tv was made to respond to.lol
Only downside was many things could "fool" the tv that made similar sounds.About 2 or 3 times a week, there was a car that would cause our tv to channel up 3 channels when it drove by our house.

You were lucky to have colour... we had B/W for a long time before we got colour. I remember sometimes going to my uncles house for Sunday dinner and we could watch Bonanza and Ed Sullivan on his colour TV.
