Default Sick of replacing lnb’s. Ideas?

Every spring when I go back to the cottage, my lnb is dead. I even have an in-line lightning arrester. I have an 8’ ground rod in the ground too. So I want a good lnb? What brand do you recommend? I was going to buy a Titanium PLL. Ideas?

    I would say Geosat.

But the LNB is not protected by an in-line arrester, only your equipment down stream from the arrester is protected.

If it only happens during the time you are gone for the winter then just remove it and reinstall it in the spring.

Are you sure it's lightning taking out the LNB??

We like to come lots in the winter but family medical problems kept us from coming. I guess a lnb a year is ok to replace. I'm assuming it is lightning. I was here about a month ago to check the cabin and it was working. Then there was an electrical storm a few weeks ago.

Do you see any signs that lightning hit the dish???

And what type/brand/make of lightning protection do you have on the system???

As a former victim I started using gas arresters at each end of the coax and right at the lnb. After that not a single problem. 3 years plus now multiple nearby strikes

So like a dummy I ordered a new lnb. Put it on and no change. So I had a spare receiver that had a blown hdmi port. No change. So for the hell of it, I rescanned all the channels and I got channels but not SES1. I had Galaxy 16. The post is cemented and it’s down 8’ so it’s below the frost line. But we had an unusually dry year last year and a major wet spring. Somehow the dish moved. We have it stationary on SES1. I have never seen this before.

You get snow in the winter??? If so then the hardware may have loosened up, heat cold, heat cold, can cause the bolts to loosen up, I don't get snow here but I check my hardware monthly, as we get some serious heat in the summer.

Ya this year we got feet and feet of snow. One of the worst in history here.

Enough snow to completely cove the dish and LNB?? Enough hard snow (iced up) can cause a dish to sag.
