    Default Jynxbox Ultra no power

Hi Guys, I was turning the power on and off on my original V2 Jynxbox Ultra HD, and then noticed next day, no power when I went to power it up. No sign of light at all. I removed the module and tried to power without module, no difference, the fuse looks OK, from what I can see, as it is so small, but it appears to have two metal lines across. Any thoughts, I have had this box probably 10 years, and I don't want to give up on it! Thanks

You're going to need a voltmeter of some sort to diagnose your problem.Assuming you DO have one, start by checking the output of the power supply.Go from there.

Just a quick update. I just took my compressor and lightly blew the internals with some air, and now it shows a red flashing light on the front. odd?

Where is the power supply exactly? I am not a circuit board guy at all.

The power supply is external on the Jynx:it's the black lump you plug into the back of it & into the wall.I'm willing to guess you don't have a meter handy then.

Yes I have one, sorry I was not thinking, the plug to go into wall and connects to the unit, I tested, I get 0 ohms.

I do have continuity on the power supply, my electrical co-worker tested. The switch I got 0 ohms, to clarify. Not the red flashing light on flashes for a second, versus at one point it become continuous.

Don't check for resistance with the unit plugged in bro...you can damage the meter big time.Set your meter to a setting to test for 12volts dc current.Put the red lead in the center terminal of the output connector of the power supply.Put the black lead on the outside connection.Look for 12v or so with the power supply plugged in.That's step 1.

switch works, I think I must have bricked it, because I am getting a red light flashing quick then disappearing. Crazy part is, just got rid of all my old cables for loading files, I had them all, Jtag ones Rs-232. How can I do a factory flash, I forget, its been way to long.

You're gonna need an rs232 for that task.I can't remember if they're straight or crossover either (null modem)

I found this, not my work, may or may not help in your problem/case ?

Hopefully this will help someone else. I finally fixed my red light blue light problem. I tried to use the jynxbox loader but it didnt work me.

I can't put my finger on exactly what fixed my problem, but I will tell you the configuration that got me back up and running. I soldered a 10k resistor to pins 3 and 8 of the U7 chip. The pins are numbered as followed. Please take note to the marker denoting pin 1

    o....1......8
    ......2......7
    ......3......6
    ......4......5

After failing miserably with the jynxbox loader I decided to try a different loader.

    1. Search for STB EROM Upgrade 2.0.0c 2009-05-22. I found mine on some Zackyfiles site written in spanish. Make sure to change the port settings to the port number that device manager shows for your straight through cable in the com ports section.

    2. I downloaded and renamed the JynxboxNA_factory_version_v8.bin to JynxboxNA_factory_version_v8.abs because this is the only file type that this loader would allow me to choose.

    3. With the jynxbox powered on. Check include boot loader and hit next.

    4. The next screen should say Synchronizing STBs...Please reset target. Hard power your jynxbox off and back on fairly quickly. "done" and the factory file started uploading and after accepting a couple of prompts my jynxbox came back to life.

I can't promise that the 10k resistor played a part in fixing it, so it might work without it.
