Testing E1 plus tonight with a friend, and seems to be delay in channel changing, blank screen for 4 seconds, is this box too old, to use for family member, should I purchase new model, or is this box decent for Iptv only?

delay is most likely from service

I've given my E1 to my mom. It still runs on BuzzTV 4, and for IPTV use, it is pretty snappy (at least on the service I am using for her). Actually I find the E1 running BuzzTV4 is snappier than my E2 running BuzzTV 5.
OK, you don't get all the newer features you have on BuzzTV5, but my mom would not know how to use any of them anyhow. She just wants to turn it on, press OK to start LiveTV , and then just CH+ and CH-. She does not even use or know how to use EPG or channel lists. I don't want to confuse her with too much info overload
I've set up all he Favorites, and that is all she care about. She cycles through them.
I have friends and other clients that are still running their old xpl3000. They just don't want to give it up. My buddy just ordered a "Classic" earlier today with the Black Friday sale discounts.. Pretty sure once he tries The Classic, he will also replace his second box (which is a Kangaroo Mate1). One of my other buddies started with a B5 a few months ago since he just wanted something basic to replace his xpl3000. Then he got an E5, and a few weeks ago he also got a "Classic" Once you try one, you are hooked.
My boss ended up getting a Classic also after I recommended it to him as best bang for the buck, and he loved it so much that he got 3 more (one for the girlfriend and 2 for his other buddies).
Anyhow, for just basic IPTV use, the E1 is pretty decent.
Thanks Emporium, exactly who I was considering this box for, keep it simple for older people, just when I saw the 4 second blank in between channel changing, I was hesitated, just to purchase a newer box for her, money is not really an issue.
Like DU mentioned, it is probably the service itself. Unless you have some sort of VPN enabled, that can add to the lag/latency time between channel changes. And VPN can be a little on the heavy side for some of the older boxes. They work, but with a little increased latency.
