    Default Signal issues 10’ bud

I have my Freesat running SES1. My signal is 69% but it’s glitching. There is no trees or obstructions. If I’m to adjust the lnb. Do I turn it or move it in or out?

If the LNB was aligned to zero when you were at true North then don't turn it, you should try moving it in or out of the scalar ring, but mark it so you don't mess up the skew for SES1.

You don't have any 5G cell towers around do you?

The 5G signals can mess with the "C" band signals.

Long time my friend. There’s a 5G tower about 5km or 3 miles away. Probably shorter as the crow flies. It was put up last year. I know this cause my company installed it and I take care of it.

Is it anywhere in line with the BUD? Most BUD's have about a 30 degree beamwidth, if the 5G tower is that close and within the beam width of the dish then it may be interfering with the signals from SES1.

Are all the transponders affected on this bird or just the lower frequency ones?

It very well be in that line of sight of the tower. It seems to be affecting all channels. It didn’t glitch all night but it is a lot today. Also we have a large smoke haze due to wildfires. Dunno if that affects it.

Unfortunately my BUD is down due to a bad motor and V box, or I'd be able to do a signal check for any problems on that bird.

Does your LNB have a 5G filter in it??

    It’s a titanium pll. I’m guessing it doesn’t have the 5G filter.

Titanium has a new LNB with a filter built in it, how old is your LNB?

This was found on Amazon for $75

Maybe 3 to 4 years old?

Can you look at the model number and see if it has the filter in already?

If it doesn't and SES1 is a must have satellite then you may need a new LNB, one with the 5G filter.

Are any other satellites affected? Say ones close by to the direction of 101W. Say 103W.

It’s fixed. My dad like to watch the classics while he’s at the cottage. I’ll have to climb up there and take a peek.

So it's fixed in place and can't move??

Maybe it moved a bit in the polar mount, try jiggling the dish a bit left and right or up and down while someone watches the "S" indicator.

I haven’t pulled out my ladder yet but I can’t move the dish. It’s pretty solid. The post is level and cemented in a 5’ hole.IMG_0546 Large.jpeg

Well my lnb must be out. I haven’t gotten up there yet but my horizontal is 70% and glitching during the day. Good at night. My verticals only work if I set the transponders to 5750. What do I need to do to get all them working on 5150?

Sorry for the late reply, well I also think with that info that the LNB may be toast, if it goes funny during the day and it's OK at night it may have temperature problems.

Sounds like a new one is the only way to fix this, get the one with the 5G filter in it.

One way to test this is when it's acting up hit it with some cold water, if it's back to normal and drops out in a few then you know.
