Types of RG-6.

RG-6 for CATV, used for TV signals from 5 to 900 MHz, will not work for satellite as the frequency rating is too low.

RG-6 for satellite, (frequency swept or rated to 2.5 GHz*) will work from 50 to 75 feet as the signal drop at the higher frequencies is too much. (>12 dB at 2 GHz)

RG-6 quad with copper coated steel center conductor*, this will work out to 100 feet, any further and the voltage drop is too high due to the copper plated steel center conductor.

RG-6 quad with a pure copper center conductor*, this will work out to 150 feet or more.

RG-11 this will work out to 250 feet or more*.

* All coax used for connecting the LNB to the satellite receiver should be rated or swept to 2.5 GHz or better, if not the signal drop may be too high at the end to be useful.
