deffinetly get a ps3. you can do way more with a ps3 then an xbox like an example is the blu ray player. also online gaming is free for ps3 where as yo have to pay for it with xbox.

    Cool

and also like doggy10 the system of ps3 is much more easy of set up,and less problems with hardware like the famous red light due to poor cooling and there is less problem in ps3 .

to be honest, i'm a heavy gamer ,i have both consols xbox360 and the ps3 ,they both have pros and cons. However for your purposes you need to think long term. Gaming tends to be socially isolating, particularly if you are not online. The best way around this is to get the system most of his friends have. He may be 10 now but will eventually be 16, he will want to go online and can stay connected to friends better if he is on the same system. As for games most of the games can be purchased for either consol (user preference) so you should try to find out what his friends play on and go from there! JMO hope this helps

get both. they are both unlockable now from what i read and the prices have dropped a lot.

the xbox also you can unlock and download games... burn on dual layers and good to go. try looking for them at stores you woudn't expect like circuit city, they can go for really cheap like $150 instead of 299...

the ps3 for the bluray and 3D of course... and can link with his existing psp

    cheers

Would be nice if you explained why you feel that way. For example, I would choose the PS3 for the bluray and 3D capabilities.

I have all 3 systems, wii, ps3, xbox 360. For the price I would take the ps3 just for the blueray and all of the online features such as netflix (wii also has netflix and the 360 does as well, but you have to have live to get it). Other than the free online play and web capabilities, for games they both have their pros and cons, but I found my ps3 to be more used by my kids that are 10 and 8. I prefer playing the ps3 too compared to my xbox 360, but the real reason I bought it was because I was tired of feeding the microsoft monster (59.99/ year for online play).

HI there, i have a Wii to, but Xbox 30 sucks, first you have to pay to get online, kinect has no games. The PS3 is both a blue ray and gaming system, with great games to bot. But i would say how old is your son? If he is still under 10 the wii is perfect, just hack it and you get all the games for free, the PS 3 and the Xbox is more for the teenager and adult.

PS3 all the way. Free to play online, Blu-ray, wireless capable without adapter, 3D capable.

    Just my 2 cents
