Yang out front in LPGA Tour Championship

ORLANDO, Fla., -- Amy Yang, who shared the lead after the opening round, grabbed the top spot by herself Friday midway through the LPGA Tour Championship.
Yang, seeking her first tour victory in a five-year career, shot a 2-under 70 at the Grand Cypress course for a two-day total of 7-under 137. She had a three-shot lead over Seon-Hwa Lee and Maria Hjorth. Lee, who was tied for the lead on Thursday, settled for a 73 and Hjorth posted a 68.
Julieta Granada was alone in fourth at 141.
The tour's player-of-the-year honor, along with the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average, the money title and the No. 1 spot in the world rankings are all on the line this week.
Jiyai Shin, Na Yeon Choi, Cristie Kerr, Yani Tseng, Suzann Pettersen and Ai Miyazato are in the running for various awards. Of that group, Kerr was in the best position in the tournament, having moved into a tie for fifth at 142.
