Default Another Wifi using LNB w/ usb adapter

    Not my work, just sharing
    C/P:

This dish is very easy to do, and it is cheap, because we can use a dish that we have no use for there to DirecTV (with that in landed channels because I assume that some began to discard) and good according to the evidence has made a reach of up to 10 miles (16km), and has 24dB of power.

Well, the material that will need:

1 plate with all of DirecTV and LNB (note: only use the "case" of the LNB)
1 USB WiFi adapter for any brand but of good quality (not necessarily to be a D-Link DWL-122)
USB extension cords according to the distance we need the pc to the antenna
(if it will be more than 5mts it is advisable to use a USB HUB with adapter 5v. Intermediate)

This is the DWL-122, we'll need to remove the cover, ie disarm and leave only the circuit
Disarmed and open the LNB components and draw-NO NOTHING TO USE THIS INSIDE THE LNB, JUST USE THE HELMET-Most of the time it is very difficult to remove the cap of white LNB, so the cut by the bank with a Dremel, a segueta, a knife or a saw, trying to leave the clean cut when we come back to plug everything

Will use the center's "case or cascade" of LNB to place and fix as much as possible the exact circuit DWL, it is VERY IMPORTANT to put the circuit in an upright position to the antenna, as we see in the picture. Would you go into one of the coaxial connector of the USB connector is fixed, this can be done with a short usb extension, which is what most recommend simply by connecting the DWL to the extension cord and going by the arm and Mast up the computer.

LESS recommended it, but that is another option is desoldar the connector and cable tie to the circuit with low loss and so we put the USB connector where would the coaxial connector as in the photo, but again, this is NOT highly recommended, Something a little more advisable it is to weld a long USB cable to each terminal's DWL to connect directly to the USB port on the computer, so we must use a multimeter to check that it is cablecito of each terminal in the cable.

Already we have set the circuit and connector, will close either the LNB putting the lid pegandola and white, of course assumes that we should have already entered the cable or USB extension cable soldier by the arm of the antenna, and then you connect, and we set the LNB with their respective screw to the arm of the dish.

Here is already the finished dish, and as we can be assured the USB cable with black tape, this to avoid pulling the cord to disconnect from the LNB, and also is bolted to a wooden base and other heavy equipment to keep it well in position without the need to have it in a fixed location. Using this technique, and this antenna no one will notice that our antenna DirecTV is actually an antenna for WiFi networks, and we hung from AP that we have located somewhere without going to throw us angry.

This type of antenna has been very successful, some people have changed even more and have achieved excellent results.

This antenna has also generated some discussion on some Internet forums, with comments such as:
"The satellite LNB is working on another frequency"
CLEAR!, Is why in the text says: "SOLO uses the hull of the LNB." What we originally had the LNB inside ... Tiralo just as it serves no purpose :-)

"The orientation of the antenna in the photo is wrong"
YES! because the photo is just one example, the orientation depends on where this other access point, and the dish was almost vertical, almost straight into a corner.

"You can catch free channels with this antenna?"
NO, the amendment of this antenna is for use with wireless networks (WiFi)

Great info BPG, but one thing.

The dish used is for 12 GHz, it will have a very hard time working good at 2.5 GHz. (frequency is much much bigger in wavelength)

This would work a heck of a lot better with a 5 to 6 foot dish, or even an old BUD.
