I do it all the time, but you might have to thin it down a bit by adding water, it depends on the sprayer your using, some have a viscosity gauge, you pour the paint into it and time it, if its too thick (takes too long to run through the gauge) you have to thin it with water. (if it's water based paint)

Check your sprayers manual for an idea on what you can spray through it.

And a trick to spraying latex when thinned out, lie the item that your going to paint down and spray the long flat sides from the top, otherwise it can run, give each side a chance to dry up a bit before moving it to get to the next side.

Another trick to doing this is go get some painters points, these are little plastic pyramids that will keep the freshly painted side up off the work top or floor, very handy, they leave very small points in the wet paint that cant be seen.

    Look here,
    Code:

You can probably find them at Lowes or any large hardware store.

I've painted 2 houses with a spray gun using good quality latex . The paint I used had the consistancy of 35% cream .. Make sure you use a water separator on the air line .

Will an in-line pint separator work or are you talking about the supply side?

My friend turned my onto a water trap that needs to be used on the positive side that will automatically release your choice of liquid, via specific gravity. It works okay when you get up and running and have your mixture correct otherwise you can lose a few quarts/liters.

I only use airless sprayers on furniture or cabinets, I think you have better control of the paint application.
