So Stevie rewrites the story he rewrote last year from the previous year of "almost". Steve thinks the starting rotation of the Jays is the best in baseball(he does at the start of each season) and each year the Jays win the World Series with their power hitters and their Cy Young pitching staff......wait a minute, could this be more fodder from the Toronto media much like the Leafs sports writers? Because the Jays have won as much as the Leafs have in the recent past...."almost" counts for nothing in pro sports. The Jays are an excellent team and a great force to be reckoned with in either division....they in my book are in with the top 5 teams in baseball....HOWEVER.....they will become winners when they do a little work on the fundamentals like bunting, advancing runners and decision making etc etc. That alone has cost them a couple extra trips to different cities in the post season...will they learn this year any different from the couple years prior? or will the Jays continue to try and power the ball everywhere only to fail again, and they will. We`ll see soon enough.

The Blue Jays are all cut from the same mould. They are all angry in a good motivated way. They are defensive, in the best way possible. Everything you say to them can seemingly be framed into a challenge. We know Bautista thrives with the chip on his shoulder. Pillar doesn’t like all of the attention on his defence because it doesn’t acknowledge his all-around game. Tulowitzki wants to show people what he is as a player, because Jays’ fans haven’t seen him like he wants to be seen. Estrada isn’t on Twitter because he remembers how he got crushed with criticism days after the trade from Milwaukee to Toronto. He wants to prove the naysayers wrong every time he takes the ball. It seems as though every player on the team has overcome some obstacle to get where they are. They are united and motivated because of that.


The Jays have several Cy Young candidates and an MVP candidate. Bautista could certainly earn the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award. The Jays are a playoff contender and should win the division.

Prediction: 94-68, first place.

Your right Cobra that was what got them into trouble last year in the playoffs, trying to drive every ball deep instead of playing small ball, they need to play more small ball, but I do agree there rotation is looking very good, but than again so is Bostons lol. I honestly think if they dont improve the fundamentals they will be a 500 ball club....

Your right bud....the Jays have as good as a starting rotation as there is in baseball if they stay healthy. The Jays get themselves in trouble yearly with their inability or unwillingness to adapt their game when the opportunity occurs....it has cost them big time over the last 3 years.
Mentioning Bautista for comeback player of the year before the first pitch of the season is tossed is like anointing Kadri the Selke winner after the first NHL game of the year.......oh wait, they did that too LOL. I think they forgot that Bautista only came back crawling to Toronto because no one else was stupid enough to pay him the insane amount the Jays did....no wonder they hope he`s the comeback kid cause anything less and he`s a bust at that kind of money.
The Jays should indeed make a deep run in the MLB playoffs, their defense up the middle is one of the best in the game.....but to finish they had better learn to play baseball not just strikeout and homerun derby.

Exactly my friend people have to remember...just because the Toronto media says they are soooo good doesn`t mean they are. Like all teams their health is a key issue but more so on the Jays because their depth is a couple of no show at the plate guys and that`s about it. Still I`ll harp on the Jays not playing some fundamental baseball(bunting, advancing runners etc) in certain situations...they play an all or nothing style of baseball that creates headlines but doesn`t win playoffs where good pitching beats the big hitters on most occasions. Jays are built for now so they better figure that out pretty quick.
I`m not a Jays fan but living in SW Ont I get deluged with their games so putting aside the insanity the media preach it doesn`t take a genius to see that the players and their management have to go back to the sandlot to see what actually wins games......fundamentals.

And it will be tight the Sox are already in trouble if Price is sidelined for a long time.....but the same will hold true thru the season if any star player is hurt for a long period. The O`s play a similar game to the Jays in that they rely heavily on the long ball and as playoffs get tighter that seldom works out for the good.............still if I`m picking it would be the Red Sox but close between them and the Jays.
