That price is cheap compared to what we have to pay in rural ontario.I would have gone Starlink, but it was not available when we moved here last November. My wife HAS to have fast internet to work from home, because the net conferencing she does is international & base sat @ 25/1 was useless. We had to install a 7500 buck tower for wireless & pay 224.00 monthly for 60/10.

Pricey if you are used to big city prices. When you are in remote locations, you don't have too many choices, and service costs a bundle.

Just like we complain about the crazy cell phone plan pricing here in Canada.. but if you are in an area with no cell phone coverage, you are stuck using a satphone if you need a phone. Have you every tried to get a plan on the iridium network ? It is CRAZY !! For a whopping $90+tx/month you get a total of 10 minutes talk time, and 10 SMS message You better keep those messages short and to the point.

With volume "typically" comes better pricing.

years ago my buddy had acres and acres of land in wainfleet
he got that because back in the old days when a neighbour passed and the land wasn't willed to anyone the neighbour got it(gotta luv dutch thinking..lol)
anyways he was allowed to sell 3 lots a year without a realtor licence
    bought a ¾ acre lot for $25k/cash
since I would be the first in that area getting utilities in would cost me over $35k(everyone else would just a normal feed and hookup)
so I built a victorian on it the middle and waited
couldn't see the house from the road due to winding driveway
after I noticed several more homes built I got all services installed for under $5k
I'm sure the ex still enjoys it...lol

I had Bell 10 Mbps plan for a long time which was usually 6 - 8 meg. This was the best service available to me(rural Ont also). Wireless wasn't available for me. Starlink offered service to my area for the $199 equipment deal so I decided to give it a try. For several months now it has been great, speeds are typically around 100 meg down and often much higher. Sure, I would like cheaper service but I'm not complaining.

There are a few times in heavy rain the speed drops or disappears for awhile but I can live with that.
