    Default Channel Jump

When I change the TV input from my BuzzTV X5 to something else like satellite or OTA antenna then go back to the X5 input , the channel always changes from where I left it. Usually jumps 1-3 channels. Is this a software or hardware problem. It does it on all servers.

The only button I press is the input button on my TV remote. Then when I go back to the X5 input, it has switched channels. Not the end of the world, but should not be doing that and it is very irritating.

What kind of TV do you have ? Some off brands like Vizio, TCL, insignia, etc.. have some buttons that use some IR codes similar to Buzz remote. I remember when mom have a Vizo TV, I don't recall what button it was, but it would trigger a "3" to be interpreted by her buzz box, so it would change to channel 3, or 33 depending on home many times she had pressed that button.

You can easily test by putting the remote close to the X5, but something in front of the TV (or it's sensor) to avoid it from affecting the TV, and press buttons on your remote. Could it be remote from SAT receiver maybe, or OTA tuner (if not using any integrated TV tuner) ?

what part of another remote might be causing the issue did you miss?

My TV is a Vizio. Will see if I can duplicate the problem.

"perhaps your tv remote is sending an ir signal", did not miss any part regarding another remote.

As I replied in another forum.. For the benefit of others here:

Mute key on your Vizio remote use the same NEC IR code as our (BUZZ) #9
So if you hit the Mute key on your Vizio remote, you will see a #9 show up on your Buzz box

Seems like I have found the culprit button. It appears to be the "OK" button on my Vizio remote. Now to figure out how to fix this.

Fix this ? Hmm.. No way to "fix" this short of changing TV. Vizio is notorious for this. You will have to live with it, and possibly put the buzz box in suspend mode before switching inputs, to try not to affect it. Or put something in front of the IR receiver of the Buzz box, since "most" is Bluetooth anyhow. IR is possibly only needed to power it on in some cases. Then you can play with the HDMI CEC options to allow the TV to turn the box on and off as it is powered on/off.

Good luck with that. Enjoy your experimentation.

Going to try programming my Harmony remote, to at least control the TV. Love the Harmony remote, but it goes through batteries like crazy.

Decided to just cover the IR sensor on the Buzz box. Working fine now.
