Some carriers have a Nationwide long distance plan... It might not be listed on their website, you might have to call your current carrier first and explain your situation to them and they might offer you something.

i dn't think any of the companies in usa even they are own by canada has any international calling plans for the cell phone, they all will hook you with roaming charges.questions is where do you travel and where do you plan to buy the cell phone frm?if you are in usa and travel out of usa then more likely you will not find any plan that will include international calling..only roaming.if you are in canada but travel in usa or other country check with your local carrier many of them who offers internional calling plans specialy cricket phone.also check vonage.they let you use your pc to make phonecall if you have their home phone service.check www.vonage.com for details.if you dn't mind using pc to make calls then i think vonage can be a good option for you.

I checked every carrier in Canada that I could find. Bell, Rogers, MTS, Fido, Virgin, SaskTel, Telus...
SaskTel appears to have a "north america" calling plan

checked American providers, and Verizon also has a "nationwide plus canada" plan, and so does AT&T

What you can also do is get a dual SIM phone, get a nice plan for your home country, and then get a prepaid SIM for traveling internationally. The only (minor) problem is that I don't think you can get a dual sim phone from one of the carriers, you need to order one online (from China, Japan, wherever) and pay full price for it. Just make sure that whatever phone you get is Quad band if you order a phone from overseas. If you need a Blackberry or Iphone to access your email or applications specific to your business, you can't use this approach...
