I dont think they needed any technical means someone on their server
fell asleep and let their dish info screen onto a channel selection for all to see
at that time is when it will show up on url grabbers you dont need to be on that specific
channel either. Think about it how did that info get to dish were they being watched and why or did someone
squeal?I am surprised that they werent using hacked accounts.
I've seen that on a few streams. The stream go down and the ird/card number is there for all to see. Easy way to catch them! lol

Dish can see the receiver and card information anytime they want - they can embed it into the stream - we can't see it but they can - it is called televes watermarking.

If you are a seeder - all they have to do is buy a subscription to an IPTV service and watch any channel they want - they can see the receiver ID number that is the source for that channel.
There is no way to remove that watermark.

Here is a copy and paste from Televes webpage:

Dish Network™, the US Satellite Operator, approves Televes Watermarking on its suite of Clear QAM Encoders
    20/05/2014
Televes has received approval from Dish Network (http://www.dish.com/) -one of the main TV Satellite Operators in the USA, with 14 million subscribers- for its Watermarking solution on its suite of Clear QAM Encoders. Watermarking is the process of hiding digital information to verify the authenticity or integrity of the signal or to show the identity of its owners. Televes Clear QAM Encoders offers invisible watermarking as an option for forensic video analysis in an effort to prevent piracy.

Juan Molezun, director of the International Division, said: “We are very pleased to have received approval of our watermarking solution from Dish Network. This is the next step in expanding the market for our professional quality encoders.”

All versions of Clear QAM Encoders provide Dolby Digital from analogue or digital inputs, closed captioning, EAS support, and include ASI input and output for easy EAS signal management, all with the innovative Televes integrated RF combiner. They encode both MPEG-2 and H.264 and offer the full remote control functionality that any T.0X headend module supports. For these reasons, they are ideal for any video distribution integration. “Be it for distributing full HD video cost effectively in the home or a commercial HD installation, our Clear QAM Encoder output distributed over standard coax, on any modern TV, provides top quality”, affirmed Molezun.

    What is watermarking?

A digital watermark is a marker embedded in the image data. It is typically used to identify ownership of the copyright of such signal. “Watermarking” is the process of hiding digital information to verify the authenticity or integrity of the signal or to show the identity of its owners. It is prominently used for tracing copyright infringements and for banknote authentication. Like traditional watermarks, digital watermarks are only perceptible under certain conditions, for example using some algorithm (watermarking detection), and imperceptible anytime else for the naked eye. Since a digital copy of data is the same as the original, digital watermarking is a passive protection tool. It just marks data, but does not degrade it nor controls access to the data.

In this case, Televes encoders hide the serial number of the Dish Network set-top box making it invisible to the human eye, but unalterable to any recoding or retransmitting from other video devices such as a camcorder. In case unauthorized publications, the Televes encoder recuperates the STB serial number to identify the source of the coded image.

When you were using URL Helper - what was showing up for you to see?
How did you identify it as a Dishnet stream?

If the IPTV service is using Dishnet as a source and then encoding and streaming a channel - I would think the URL info for the IPTV service would show up - how are you seeing Dishnet as the source?

I always run url helper/wireshark when checking out iptv services i dont remember which channel i was checking out think it was espn when you start a stream url helper captures the IPTV services link first then you may depending on the stream you may get additional info depending if your watching regular tv or movies and tv shows you may get the suppliers links if there is one which if you sub and it expires you still have the suppliers links they will still work without usernames and passwords thats another story.

For the dishnet xml to come up the iptv operator could have done a number of things
while restreaming you have to watch everything while you restream!

It shows up as a xml file, copy and paste the xml to your browser and it shows the dishnet info screen
model receiver smartcard and location id its all there.

Now you need to check this by running another stream after espn if nothing you go back to espn if it shows
a mistake was made on the espn channel by the operator.

It's true and he's been on NagraStar's most wanted list for years - dating back to the start of IKS. None of the resellers have been able to collect that bounty on his head yet - and I'm not sure if they ever will.
