did you check a domain name or an IP? A domain name can be adjusted to any IP. An IP address does not relocate unless it is a dynamic IP provided by an internet provider. For the most part website addresses are static IPs

Possibly the DNS have not fully propagated seeing it takes 48 to 72 hrs to fully propagate, hence some Network tools are still showing it in the USA. ;)

I just tried with whois and I am still getting the Netherlands.
Are you sure you are not using the old IP address when you checked?
You have to use the domain name or the new IP address that the domain name points to. Just do a ping of the domain name and it will give you the IP

You should always use the domain name in your server lists - because the IP address may change at any time. With so many DDOS attacks going on - the servers could repoint the domain name to a different IP address as needed.

Could be a fox in the hen house and they will have to find a way to get rid of the fox to stop all these DDOS attacks.

May have to set up several different servers like NFPS/Rocket and assign groups of people to these different servers and gradually find out which hen house contains the fox :-)

Distributed Denial of Service. It's when someone has access to a network of bot infected computers. They flood the server with requests and the end result is a Denial of Service.

The DDOS attackers use thousands of computers that have been infected with a virus/trojan that they have control of. When they give these infected computers a hidden command to attach an IP address or a domain name - then all of these infected computers go to this IP and try to connect at once. This attack floods that IP address with too much traffic that it can not handle. The big IP service providers can not handle it and it affects other big customers of theirs that are on the same node.
They then null route this one IP address to get rid of the attack and get rid of all this extra traffic and get their other clients back to normal.
When they null route this IP address - the IKS owner has to wait a few days before his service provider will turn their IP address back on to make sure the DDOS threat is gone.

The IKS server owner's only option is to buy another IP address and transfer all his backup files to this new IP address.
But with so many loose lips spreading the domain name and IP address of the new server - it doesn't take long for the DDOS attackers to find this new IP address and attack it.
The only way to stop it is to get rid of the guys that are leaking this information about the IP address. That is easier said than done - because some of the IKS service's clients are probably his competitors that want the service shut down.

These guys may have to go more private and underground and only let their trusted friends and family know where they are.

Yes you can pass the traffic through a DDOS protection service - but the good ones are pretty expensive.
When an attack occurs they blacklist everyones IP address that they think are part of the attack - but I think there are a lot of false/positives (legitimate IKS clients) that are also blacklisted. So after the attack the IKS guy has to sort through the blacklist and turn on all of his clients that were blacklisted in error. It is a long tedious task.
They also temporarily shutdown the IKS service while they are blacklisting - so all IKS clients are without service. If the DDOS attackers know the IP address they can do this several times a day if they are determined enough.

In my opinion the only effective solution is to get rid of the bad guys :-)
There are ways of doing this but I won't discuss that here.

Cmon man, cant you see what is going on here??? Satcom is the one giving them the domain and/or IP. Those who are responsible for this, have a legit ID and PW to the server and every time there is a new one, they PM Satcom and say, "I am down. My ID is XXXXX and my PW is XXXXXX, may i have the new info please?" ....and Satcom gives it to them, unknowingly of course.

There is plenty of rats, snitches and PI (private investigators) looking for easy way to make a buck.

This server is not unique and there are anothers ones IKS servers running fairly good on the same master server with identical setups, only different ports.

Why particularly tv001 is not running when others are running, nobody knows right now, but best guess is dish got somehow hold of the vital info, how to get to them.
With all info wide open on the net, loging to such server - it is just giving dish a nice 3500$ christmas present.

Eaaaasy money for the Charles Ergen, just for the Christmas.

well had you been paying attention the last few months you would have seen a lot more with similar issues. Near as I know one is totally gone and a few have rectified the problem. Easy to rectify from what I have been hearing, all they have to do is bring their accounts up to date and quit leeching the service themselves. What most people do not realize is the guys running these servers are nothing more than glorified resellers themselves and are supposed to donate to a central server the same way you donate to the guys server. The problem lies when they fail to play by the rules nd then the DDOS starts. Want to blame someone? Well you can either blame the guys running the card cache or the guys running the server you folks can not to connect to.

IMO it is hard to blame a guy that isn't getting paid for wanting his money.

Now as for the mole theory. I dare say there are some on every server. Obviously the guy running this server has some on other servers leeching or he wouldn't be having this problem to begin with :D but hoping to keep the info private for a public $ server is impossible because if somebody didn't post it just for brownie points there are a 1000 more that would roll the information for one free month of tv.

I agree money issues are usually involved in situations like this - but I'm willing to bet that, that is not the case here.

I have a little bit of inside knowledge of what is going on - and I am willing to bet that non-payment of (agreed upon) moneys owed is not a problem here. Could it be that someone is trying to extort extra money out of TV101?
From what I have heard MONEY is an issue. What would you say if you were paying $x rent per month and then on Dec. 1 you paid your agreed upon rent - but then your landlord says no - sorry your rent just went up 300% and if you don't pay you're going to be sorry???

I'm betting that they are not leaching and no one is being screwed - if you are part of the group that is supposedly being screwed I would welcome a PM - if you really don't know what is going on then I guess I won't wait for a reply.

I agree money issues are usually involved in situations like this - but I'm willing to bet that, that is not the case here.

I have a little bit of inside knowledge of what is going on - and I am willing to bet that non-payment of (agreed upon) moneys owed is not a problem here. Could it be that someone is trying to extort extra money out of TV101?
From what I have heard MONEY is an issue. What would you say if you were paying $x rent per month and then on Dec. 1 you paid your agreed upon rent - but then your landlord says no - sorry your rent just went up 300% and if you don't pay you're going to be sorry???

I'm betting that they are not leaching and no one is being screwed - if you are part of the group that is supposedly being screwed I would welcome a PM - if you really don't know what is going on then I guess I won't wait for a reply.

How could he/they be leaching? They paid $x per month for the service - why would they have to leach off of them - they already paid for the service.

You do NOT have to leach if you already bought it. That's like going into the grocery store and buying a bottle of pop - then you take it out of the store - walk back into the store with the same bottle of pop and try to sneak it out under your jacket??? You already paid for the pop so why make it look like you are stealing it?

The way things work now you pay for a cache connection for certain channels - you work out a price and they push it to you.
They don't care if you have 10 customers or 10,000 customers you are paying for the push the agreed upon price.
It would be leaching if you then resold that push and pushed it to someone else - but you can't do that because most of them want access to your server to make sure you are NOT re-pushing - if you do they cut you off. The downfall of giving them access to your server is that they can then see your User IDs and they can blackmail you and try to extort extra money from you - does that ring a bell?

It does indeed smell like extortion. Whoever owns the feeders populating the main cache holds ALL the cards (pun intended!). Prices go up, maybe drive out the mom 'n pop servers.

Must be pretty dang hardcore DDOS if it can't be stopped with some of the iptables ddos protection scripts out there. Regardless though, it could be stopped if enough money applied towards a proper solution.

Just trying to explain to people what is going on in the real world - so they have a better understanding of how things work.
In my opinion - knowledge is power.
There is no vodoo here - it's actually pretty simple if you know what is going on :-)

I am sure some people would be surprised how easy it is to set up their own server and take care of their own private group of friends - but that's a whole new story.
The problems start when you go public and try to help too many people - then there is no turning back - there is always going to be someone out there that is envious - that wants to topple you and take over your position. Just the law of the jungle :-)

"a lot" is a understatement.
We as staff can only do so much to keep things in order and we do try our best to be K&G (kind and gentle) but sometimes we have to make a decision for the site and it's members and take action.
When we do we get persecuted for being unfair or giving favouritism but there is more than meets the eye.

It's simple. Follow the site rules and things work fine. Break them then expect some sort of repercussion.
Bantering back and forth accomplishes nothing but issues.

If the TV101 guys get shut down - they will just move on to their next target - eventually we will see the end of public IKS - you will have to know someone before you will be able to join.
Maybe that is not such a bad thing in the long run - but it is going to hurt a lot of newbies.

Yep - for a lot of guys it probably will be the end for this server "as it is".
There is obviously a mole in the group - so I'm guessing they will move on and take a few of their trusted friends with them and open a more private service. Unfortunately a few good guys will probably be left behind - it is going to be hard to sort out the wheat from the chaff - but just from reading this thread I would have a pretty good idea of who I would cut and who I would invite to move on.
I personally think they had a good service - but for some reason they have some hard core enemies and it is almost impossible to bring their service back to where they want it to be.

no I agree if it is extortion simply for the means of obtaining more money but why wouldn't they be doing it to other servers as well? Already been down that road though. It is quite simple why they got involved with the card cache guys. Not enough cards around to go stand alone so the server operators share off each other and also buy into the card cache. Now if it takes the card cache to make the server stable and at the same time it is the card cache guys disrupting the service then I would say it is a catch 22 situation. If it was me I would just pack it in and look for a new business.

Unfortunately "they" don't have to be that good - it is pretty easy to just re-direct a DDOS attack
If the TV101 guys get shut down - they will just move on to their next target - eventually we will see the end of public IKS - you will have to know someone before you will be able to join.
Maybe that is not such a bad thing in the long run - but it is going to hurt a lot of newbies.

no I agree if it is extortion simply for the means of obtaining more money but why wouldn't they be doing it to other servers as well? Already been down that road though. It is quite simple why they got involved with the card cache guys. Not enough cards around to go stand alone so the server operators share off each other and also buy into the card cache. Now if it takes the card cache to make the server stable and at the same time it is the card cache guys disrupting the service then I would say it is a catch 22 situation. If it was me I would just pack it in and look for a new business.

Not all cache services are extortionists - there are some good guys out there
If you pick the wrong group - then you"re in a pile of doodoo. I've heard from other guys that have dealt with these guys and have received the same type of treatment - if you get too big or too successful they up the ante and send a DDOS your way.
You just have to cut your ties to them and don't give them any access to your server and find some reputable cache service.
But these guys don't like losing their big fat monthly pay cheque from you - so they continue their attacks. It also sends a message to their other clients - that they better stay in line.

this is not uncommon has happened a few times..when Racertv went out there were several servers that offered discounts to his old users. Also happened when Dark Angel went out
