From my read anything above 50% quality wise should work. Although that would be bare minimum and would not be recommended as it would cause issues. If one is getting 100% quality then it doesn't get much better. Problem with these stb's is there meters are not always accurate. As to the SV8K showing 720i seems to be a common issue. Jmo but my guess would be an issue in the way the sw was wrote years ago. Guess it could explain the slight shutter issue as well. I do know it will show 720p with the atsc tuner. This issue has came up in other posts so I did a little googling a while back. And from what I read at one time there was some thought of having a 720i resolution prior to around 2008 if memory serves. But in the end they decided on just 720p. If that was the case then it is possible considering the date when the SV8K was manufactured and sw wrote they may wanted to cover all the basis and it was wrote in just in case. The date fits anyway as it all falls around 2007 and 2008 from jump. One can google i vs p with the resolution and find out the difference.
If you see the sat. info appear in the light blue area in the upper right hand corner while in dish settings you should be good. More quality the better as the strength side of the meter can be fickle. Seen it anywhere from 54 to zero with strength and scan depending on bird if the quality was strong. Strange tp as it does weird things at times

I have 4 8000s and none would work with your low quality the signal means nothing check your other tps for quality and you will see
The quality and signal are same on all other TP's, and they all scan fine, except this TP does not scan. The sat. info appear in the light blue area in the upper right hand corner on this TP. So I don't think the quality is the issue.
Let me know if I am inputting the TP info correctly. I have it as 12530, 21500, H, 3/4A, Turbo 8. Should the FEC be 3/4A, as I have it or should it be something else?
S-54 Q-53 here and works but not even close to ideal. With the info you have and a reading of S-58 Q-100 it should work. Of coarse I maybe missing something as it's early and my eyes are feeling weak at the moment along with my brain. A little better reading with a different stb. Also seen quality levels go up and down slightly depending on the time of day. Figure it is due to being on the fringe and or atmospheric conditions. That issue doesn't seem to be specific to just one tp. As been said the higher the S&Q the better. Best to tweak the dish off the weakest tp.

The info for 82W TP 12530 showing on Lyngsat (and some others) may be old, but it shows the FEC to be 2/3 not 3/4, maybe this is a problem.

you have the right settings
the signal strength isnt that important you need better quality its what counts not sig strngth
I have lots of tps shoe high 90s quality and no signal--0
maybe you are to far south ?????????
