Is there any "chatter/shuddering"?It's possible that the circuit drains back after upshifting from first gear, but it should refill faster than tha.Damaged valve/valve body or stuck check ball would be my guess, but I don't like to guess.Do the pressure test as I suggested.

I called my friend who does the pressure testing and will come home after a few days, in the meantime I think I will remove the valve body and inspect all, maybe I can order the SK TFOD JR. Shift kit........thanks......will upload photos once the VB is removed..........TP

My friend came home to do the pressure testing, I wasn't home but I left him the keys, he left a note that it seems I have a check valve in the oil cooler lines clogged, replace or delete this check valve and he will again do the pressure test.........

Found the check valve, it seems it's busted, I tried to blow air and almost nothing goes through it, I am deleting this check valve, will report how it behaves ............TP
P.S. I already ordered the shift kit Jr.

Check valve deleted, the delay in reverse is gone, but first gear still have the problem, pressure test shows a bit above specs, my friend mentioned about servo for band that apply 2 gear could be stuck........TP

Today I check for codes in TCM and the code 26 is back, the difference is before it only ran on 3rd gear and now is the first gear problem but it shifts into 3rd, 4th and lock-up.....next week the shift kit jr will arrive I will try old sensors along inspecting the servos/accumulators.....

The Noof........I was searching for installation guide of the TFOD HD2 not the TFOD Jr. But I am confused about the purpose of this kit, is it for manual shift only? Or it can be also for automatic function? It seems everyone who is installing it is for manual shift only, I remember installing one but for 4L60 chevy transmission and it worked fully automatic........the reason I ask is because I am planning to install this kit after I fix all the present issues with the 42RE

Read this line in the description:". Keeping the shift timing at the OE RPMs for optimal engine power curve brings a whole new driving experience to the truck."That tells me it's fully automatic bro.I will caution you about a shift kit on a mature drive train, something they don't tell you when you buy a shift kit:the shifts are MUCH more aggressive, & can be tough on older drivetrain components.Your Jeep has a NP 231 transfer case, which is chain drive to the front diff. They can be problematic with the harshness of an aggressive shift kit.I'ts also tough on differentials with extra lash.Points to consider.

Thanks, all my Jeeps are 2WD, the 42RE was rebuild in 2015 but it only ran 2,300 miles and was left in the back patio until I took it for my personal use, I removed the engine head full rebuild and new freeze plugs that were rot away, all this headache because I slammed the brakes to avoid running over a kid who was running after his ball......I received the shift kit Junior today, after I remove the VB and new governor solenoid if this doesn't fix the problem I will remove the transmission and take it apart, I hate the smell of automatic transmission fuild but I have to do it myself, it will be like when I helped my friend with his drag car.......I prefer rebuilding engines or Turbo charger and dealing with Speeduino ECU....I'll keep you posted The Noof,, thanks for your help and for help coming, Merry Xmas
