    Default Max Volume?

I just hooked up a new Buzz Classic and every time I turn the box on, the volume starts up at max volume. I tried turning max volume on and back off in settings but it still does it. Any way to get this to stop doing that?
    Thanks

It is off. But since it still does it, I tried turning it on and back off again to see if that would help but it still does it.

I had reproduced the same issue on my B5 and E5 in early June, and has already been reported and corrected by Buzz. I was told that the fix would go out on the next OTA update.

After a "shutdown" it always goes to max. For now, before launching LiveTV or VOD, just remember to lower volume first.

Something like happened back in the 3000 series days and I think an update sorted out the issue.

it must be already fixed cause my son says he doesn't have a volume issue with his b5

Does he "shutdown" his box, or "sleep" ? It only happens after a shutdown. Coming out of sleep, it is fine.

Anyhow, I'll check my box later, but I don't recall a fix being pushed (but I could be wrong - it's not one of my primary boxes).

Well, I just plugged in my B5 and E5, and they still both exhibit the same behavior, and no update available.
If you shutdown, and then power up the box, it goes to FULL volume. You can control it with the remote (so it is not the MAX volume setting enabled), but it starts at max. I tried toggling the MAX VOLUME settings in case something was latched, but no difference.

If you just unplug the box, and plug it back in (instead of doing s shutdown), it does NOT exhibit that behavior.
I don't know if it is in combination with other settings (I do have all the HDMI CEC settings turned off).
I have not tested it on my Classic, but I am assuming it is the same behavior as 'squirtNcider' has mentioned.

When I had mentioned the issue to Buzz, they did say that they were aware of it already, and fix would go out in next OTA update.

My boxes are currently at the following FW/SW versions. Is your son's box on the "beta" path or is it running the standard Public release ?

    E5
    FW: V20230324
    BuzzTV: 5.0.799
    --
    B5
    FW: V20230328
    BuzzTV: 5.0.799

EDIT: just tested it on my X5 64AX-C which is running V2230328 and also 5.0.799.

I was not experiencing the issue with this device. After some checking, I realized that I had some of the CEC settings enabled (CEC Switch and Virtual CEC Switch). I disabled them all, went into liveTV, and then did a shutdown. Low an behold, after a shutdown and powerup, Volume was set to max. Repeated a few times, to make sure it was not an "accident" and it was reproducible.
To test the theory, I re-enabled both of those CEC settings, and repeated the tests and with CEC options enabled, the Volume issue could not be reproduced.

Maybe one of the CEC options is enabled. I believe Virtual CEC is default. With CEC enabled, you don't get the issue. If all CEC is disabled, only then does it happen.

Anyhow, I reproduced it on my3 boxes earlier today again, and my buddy has the same issue on his E5 and B5.

Hey maybe there is a 3rd variable to reproduce it

'powerkey' definitions are set to 'sleep' in a new box as I had to manually set all my boxes to 'shutdown' when first set up.
