    Default VPN Feedback

    Just a little feedback:time for test 9:00am-10:00am

Ipvanish -cost for essential package around approx 65-70 CAD dollars for 2 years , unlimited connections , have used it for the past 2 years on 5 boxes , 3 in different locations, have not experienced disconnect issues.
Loaded app on buzz 3000, e2 and E5 models. All work well.

Download Speed-test bed -Buzz e5-wifi connection
Without VPN-average 375mb per second , 3 tests performed with a without VPN
    With VPN-Detroit Virtual Location-average 140mb per second
    With VPN-Optimal Location (Montreal)-average 145mb per second

Torguard VPN-cost 46.20 American/65-70 Canadian for 3 years (good deal), max 8 connections , will load app in a box located somewhere else later this week. No disconnect issues on E5 model so far. Use MYRESIP for promo code, recurring payment (same price) .

Without VPN-average 375mb per second , 3 tests performed with and without vpn. Results
    With VPN-Chicago-loc2-average -170mb per second
    With VPN-Canada-Montreal Selected -170MbPer second

Pretty happy with both vpn’s at the moment . Account sharing should be limited .

    Thanks

I have used Surfshark for a couple of years. Comes with unlimited connections which I have set up at several different places.

Gl.inet routers come with proper vpn stock firmware and are about the easiest to set. Takes a couple of minutes.

Download the server file from Surfshark, open the GL.inet router, upload the file, set your login credentials and save. Done.

It’s great to hear both IPVanish and Torguard are performing well for you, especially with consistent speeds and no disconnects on multiple devices. Those speed tests are really helpful, too looks like both VPNs handle high speeds pretty well, even with virtual locations.

Surfshark says unlimited devices, my experience is there is a data cap. I had it on 15 devices and it would drop connections and act like no VPN.

I've been using Windscribe for the last few years, and it has been good to me.
At the moment you can get a 3 year sub for USD$79 through stacksocial. And use discount coupon "take20" to get an additional 20% off to bring it down to USD$63+tx for 3years of Pro (less than CDN$0.10/day). You can always get a "free" tier account with them. If you use your email, you get 10GB/month on the free tier (which is good to test for a few hours), but limited to a few servers. For testing before you buy, it is great option.

I have it setup in at least 3 locations (here in Canada, I have it on all the family phones (3 Pixels and an iPhone), at least 3 buzz boxes, PCs and even on router). I have it installed on Mom's Buzz who lives not far from me. It's installed on sister's iPhone who lives in the USA, and on 3 of her firesticks. And I also have it installed on friends device in Europe. No issues with sharing. Obviously I keep it within immediate family and close friends.

Windscribe has multiple clients available for a variety of OS. For Android, they have 2 version. 1 for Generic Android, as installed on phones/tablets, and another for AndroidTV, which is optimized for TV devices and use with a Remote. I use the AndroidTV version on all my buzz boxes (even the one pre-AndroidTV) and they work quite well. App has quite a few options, including auto connect on boot, and even split tunnelling which allows you to include or exclude only specific apps from going through the VPN itself. So if you want everything to go through VPN, except for netflix and disney+, it s very simple to configure so you don't need to constantly connect/disconnect depending on what app you will be using.
And for sharing it is nice, that with the AndroidTV client, you don't need to provide your credentials. they have an option they call "Lazy login" which you generate an 8 character code on the TV client, and you enter it into you phone app, and it authorizes/logs the TV client in. Handy when you want to share with someone without giving them your credentials, so they can't install it on any other devices without you knowing.

I typically connect to the faster servers (for me at least) to minimize any latency. That is typically Montreal and New York. Mom mostly uses a European server for some Geolocation restrictions, and 99% of the time, even the European server connection is perfectly fine.

I have not done specific speed tests, but have not had any issues with streaming (and torrenting).

I've always wondered what the impact is of different virtual locations to speed, and it seems these numbers hold! Good tip on the promo for Torguard as well.

The biggest impact is latency. If your server is far away, then you will have higher latency, so for IPTV use, you will see slower channel changes. Once the stream starts however it probably won't be a huge difference (for streaming at least) if you are using a premium service. So if you are one of those channel surfers that just likes to click the +/- buttons until you find something you want to watch, then it can get annoying even a few extra ms between channel changes.

Anyone else have any good information to share regarding VPN's, I'm planning on getting one.
