ya, player makes a huge difference on some services. On my 4900, I have some services where I can only use the default, otherwise I get out of sync or even stepping as if only every 2nd frame is being displayed. And others, I need to use secondary player, since otherwise all I get is "no stream available" or "unsupported media type", or similar messages.
Would be great to have a great universal player that handles all without issue, but unfortunately it's not around the corner.

Maybe something which will be in my next wish list/feature request for buzztv5 (after the next update) is to remember selected player, by service. So don't need to swap every time I switch service ;) Nice to have.

Worked fine for me. Did it last night on xrs4900, in QC, and I went from -3 hours, to -4 hours and all lines up.

When changing offsets on a buzz, it will often crash the buzztv app... What I typically do, is change the offset. Then exit the buzztv app, then go back in and clear the EPG (even though the offset change triggers that). And then it is fine again as it repopulates.

EDIT: I love the buzz boxes, but the EPG offset feature tends to be very touchy. In the past, I used to change offsets, and would see ZERO effect, until I started doing it in the order I set out above. It's as if it would crash, but internally would not set some required internal flags, and then when it restarted, it assumed there was no change needed, so the EPG would remain in original offset, even though the settings looked like it was changed.

Make the change then exit buzz tv app. Re-enter and you should be fine. You can al reboot the internet, furthermore you can change the timezone in the device settings, not buzz app settings but the device settings. They're many options to try with the buzz and one will correct your issue for sure.

Yesterday I realized that that some of the EPG was still offset.
So I played around with it again. Seems like when I set an offset to fix some channels I am targeting, it all works. BUT then I noticed some other channels that are offset also. So it seems like the EPG is not all offset by the same amount. It's as if some of the EPG entries have taken the time change into account, and other have not.

Usually you see these shifts during first week of November (since EU changes end of OCT and north america 1st week of NOv). So depending n sources used to compile, things can be shifted. But now, it is strange. I set an offset, and many of the channels line up perfectly. But then when I check further, notice that many others are not. So I keep overshooting in one direction or another depending on channels.

Seems to me that it is a server side EPG alignment issue. Doesn't look like any shifting on box can align them all.

I'll keep toying with it later. And maybe try another box also.

The xrs4900 is a little more forgiving when playing with EPG shifts. As long as you let it complete it's tasks (like clearing EPG) after a time shift, it tends to behave :)

But, yes I agree with you that all this DST stuff needs to go :)

But in an ideal world we would not need to change anything anyhow. Since the server identifies that it is Timezone "America/Vancouver", and the Media player (Android based) auto detects (or you manual select) your actual timezone, then the math should be simple to decide how many hours for a natural shift to be (and calculated by the app). The EPG manual shift option should only be needed for VERY specific cases, like those using VPN connection which connect to alternate timezones.

BTW: EPG so far is 99% perfect (at least for most channels I watch). The rare "obscure" channels that are not, I suspect may be last minute programming changes by the channel itself. Just brought the offset (on the buzz box) back to -3hrs (like I had it before) and all lined up. Nice job.

Tonight I had quite a bit of freezing on many of my "favorites". Wanted to watch Chicago Fire and the rest on CityTV, and both CityTV Montreal and Toronto were freezing pretty bad. Some channels were fine. But I temporarily switched to another server to watch a few shows and it was perfect, so it was not my connection or box.

Then I decided to switch back around 11ish, and as I was watching something, stream stopped.. Tried to flip though a few channels and it looked like a group of channels was just out.

Hey, "Pluto TV - This Old house" has been solid :) When everything else causes problems, this one works like a charm. Takes a second or 2 to get started, but works.

Hey, it happens.. Better to upgrade now and get a little inconvenience during the upgrade, than to wait till servers fail completely.

After all the server swaps settle down, can you switch the "CA: Global Montreal" feed to the proper feed ? For the last few days it has been streaming the Global NEWS Montreal feed, which is just cycling the news all day long. Not critical, since for the most part Global Toronto is similar programming, except for the news (and a few other minor stuff) ;)

First of all, it is rarely streaming "Global Montreal", but rather "Gloabl News Montreal". There are rare occasions however (like this morning, where it was streaming the correct stream - but it eventually goes back to the News stream). Also, right now, even the "Global News Montreal" stream which is presently running, is just stuttering through.

Out of curiosity I tried the stargate channel on a few of my devices.

Buzz xrs4900 - no audio on both Default and Secondary players.
Buzz xrs4500 (running new BuzzTV 5 beta) - no audio on Default or Secondary players
old Buzz XPL3000, No audio on Secondary and New players. But Audio works on DEFAULT player. It does take a toll on the old machine (slow to respond to remote inputs), but audio and Video in sync and smooth over 3 or 4 minutes that I watched.

Didn't have to try other boxes ;) time to go shovel some snow...

A personal thanks to sat9182 and wicked. The past 2 days were spent without power after snowstorm shut Stafford VA. area roads down, caused blanket area power outages, which meant most gas station's pumps were unavailable, With ever dwindling fuel in my trucks I was able to sporadically power my internet (with an inverter) keep warm and watch local tv stations & VOD......:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Can you look at the Canadian channel 'Super Channel Heart and Home' (1493) when you get a chance. Seems to be in slow motion and the audio is out of sync.

Anyone else having issues where it locks up completely if you change channels? I just get black screen until I reboot buzz box. My neighborhood has the same issue on a dreamlink and we are using different isp’s. router, modem and network switches have been rebooted many many times

two dreamlink T2 prime, same house, one never has a problem but the other keeps getting black screen when changing channels EVEN if they are swapped, its always the same one that locks.

I have a T2 prime upstairs, & I use Wicked as well.No issues on my end at all.Try to mirror image the settings on the T2 that works well.

Ask wicked to reset your stb lock and have your external video player in settings on. Worked for me on a dream link dlite.

My neighbor is having the identical problem.

Also when switching and the channel goes black in settings the "Expiry Date" now says 'N/A', until I reboot the box.

We have both done numerous factory resets and tried all three Wicked domains.

I never had that problem on my buzz boxes until about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

After going through to try to narrow it down, I found that it only happens on when I switch to/from some "Pluto" channels. A few weeks ago, I had added the Pluto "This old house" channel (since the 24/7 channel for "this old house" has been in an infinite loop for the last few months - but did not report it since I had other sources for it). But since I found it in the Pluto lineup, I had added it (figured why not), along with an "americas test kitchen" pluto channel. But ever since I added them to my favorites, I found that at least once every 2 days, the box would hang when I would switch channels to/from those. Decided to remove it from my favorites so I don't switch to it, and the hang ups have stopped.

So only thing I can figure, is that something in some of the Pluto streams is causing the hang ups. I tried using default/secondary players and still same thing. So something in stream (which only happens during channel change) seems to choke the players and hang the box. IF I wait about 45 seconds, it eventually gives me the usual android "force close" dialog. But for those 45 seconds, the box does not respond to anything.

Just removed it from favorites for now, and when I do decide to watch them (which is not too often), I am prepared for a hangup ;)

I have not tried pluto channels on another server, so can't compare.

When sat did my stb lock reset I also had deleted port and put url in a totally different port before he did the reset maybe that is the trick that will help. Also external video on and changed my power mode to off not stand by.
